The children have the great opportunity to work with our Artist in Residence in the Junior School, Kaye Clancy, over several art lessons. Kaye is a renowned ceramic artist in Australia. She has work in the collections of numerous public galleries in Australia. In Term 4, the children learnt new skills, techniques, and processes and extend on hand-building methods to construct clay abstract, figurative and animal objects. The children were introduced to exiting ways to finish and decorate their work through the use of coloured underglazes, embedded glass, and metals. These finished clay works are combined into a collaborative artwork and displayed at the Junior School as a memento of the Year 6 class of 2013.
The three birds were made by Kaye. They are Australian native; Kookaburra, Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, and a Rainbow Lorikeet.
